Timothy Greenfield-Sanders, was born in Miami Beach, Florida. He received his B.A. Degree from Columbia University in Art History and a Master's Degree in film from The American Film Institute in Los Angeles. Greenfield-Sanders' portraits are in the collections of The Museum of Modern Art, The Metropolitan Museum, The National Portrait Gallery and The Whitney Museum among others. He has exhibited extensively worldwide in galleries and museums ranging from Leo Castelli Gallery in New York to the Kunst Station Sankt Peter in Koln. His latest exhibition at the Mary Boone Gallery consisted of 700 portraits of artists, dealers, critics, collectors and curators taken over the last 20 years. Greenfield-Sanders' fashion, celebrity and political portraits can be seen in magazines worldwide, most recently in Life, Vanity Fair, Harper's Bazaar, Fortune, GQ and The New York Times Magazine.

Greenfield-Sanders' first feature film Lou Reed: Rock and Roll Heart, won a 1999 Grammy Award. The film premirered in the United States at the Sundance Film Festival, in New York at the Museum of Modern Art, and in Europe at the Berlin film festival. It aired in the U.S. on PBS's American Masters series and has screened at over 50 film festivals worldwide.
